Starting back to Yellowstone for a second day, we were not more than a few miles in before we got mooned by two bison (I know I used the term buffalo in yesterday's blog, but there's really no difference between the two so from now on I will use the term bison to save some letters for the typist.)
We saw a baby bison that was so cute!
Continuing, we stopped at the visitor education center where we saw a film about the birth of Yellowstone thousands of years ago. We also picked up a couple of facts. Believe it or not, the entire park is considered an active volcano. Two thousand miles or so below the park is a giant ocean of magma (that's the hot stuff.)
We also learned there are more geysers in Yellowstone National Park than in the entire world combined and driving around we could believe it. Almost everywhere we looked, there was steam rising from the ground. There was even a warning near one of the geysers to stay on the designated path and not stray off to the open ground because these things can pop up anywhere.
Going home, the bison got the last word when they totally blocked the road. Joan got out of the car to shoo them away......NOT!
