Yellowstone - Last Look

It was a cold, rainy on and off, and windy day.  Joan made her case for a day of movies, reading and hanging out doing nothing, but as the Director of this adventure, I overruled her and we moved on.

We decided to explore a different part of the park, Mammoth Hot Springs.  Of course, before we could proceed very far we had to endure the daily harrassment provided by the bisons.  Actually, the first group had two calves who had a remarkable resemblance to our twin grandsons,  Sean & Patrick.

When we finally arrived at the hot springs, they were a lot different from previous views of the park.  No geysers, but a lot of steam flowing from the ground.  I climbed to the top of one hill and got a great view of the baren terrain.

Also today we had our first encounter with a bear.....and it was not Yogi Bear but a lonely brown bear who was just wandering in a field beside the road and stopped traffic in both directions for awhile.

We also saw a mystery animal that we have no idea what it was.  A dollar will be mailed to the frst blog follower who can identify this:

Here's a picture of Joan walking toward a hot spring dressed as if she was exploring the Yukon. Admittedly, it was only 42 degrees today and quite windy.

Having dinner tonight I got a little revenge on the bison population who stalled traffic the last two deays.  I had a meal of Prime Rib of Buffalo and it was delicious!
