Alps Shmalpz - Rockies Rule!

Awesome is the only word to describe what we saw as you enter Rocky Mountain National Park from the small town of Estes Park, Colorado.....elevation 8210 feet.....and drive up a two-lane road switching back and forth, higher and higher until  the road was blocked because of snow.  At that point, there was a place to park and walk around.

Here I am with my back firmly planted against the stone wall.  I DID NOT look  down!

At another stopping point, Joan decided to do some mountain climbing:

Wherever we looked, the view was phenomenal and just begged for a picture....I took 45 today but could only fit a few here.  When we got back down from the mountain, we walked around the town which had a nice river walk path.  We snacked on pizza and a flight of beers!

When we returned to the hotel, I wanted ice for my heel but could not find an ice bucket.  Joan sent me off with a plastic bag.  I searched and searched but could not locate the ice machine until I was all the way back at the front desk.  Joan was concerned because I was gone so long and (since we watch way too many police shows and movies) thought I was "missing."  When I returned to our suite, we realized we had a full fridge with ice maker!!  Duh!
