Now we are into uncharted Comerford territory! Enroute to Hot Springs, Arkansas, we decided to spend some time in Little Rock. We passed on the Clinton Library because Joan was sure I would make a scene and end up in jail. Those of you who know me realize that Mr. Clinton was NOT my favorite president.
Instead we visited the State House which was quite oppulent for a government building. Those who work there enjoy huge brass doors, marble floors and staircases, and an absolutely gorgeous chandelier under the stained glass roof of the rotunda.
Unfortunately, while walking around we noticed a huge portrait of former Governor Bill Clinton smiling down at us. It appeared to have been painted many years ago because his hair was dark. It is hard to escape Mr. Clinton in this city. But luckily for me, the next portrait we saw was former Governor Mike Huckabee who looked much the same as he does on TV today.
The grounds around the State House were quite nice with mature trees and war memorials.
Went out to do laundry and get a taste of Americana when we arrived in Hot Springs.. Shockingly (and Peter claims it was purely coincidental), Stubby's Bar-B-Que was right next door to the Laundromat. Needless to say, our dinner plans changed on sight!
Not a very event-filled day, but fun nonetheless!
